Our Business Valuation Methodology

We apply recognized standards, disclosed methods, and independent judgment, every time.

"The difference between a defensible valuation and a challenged one isn't always the number. It's the rigor of the analysis, the transparency of the methodology, and the independence of the analyst."
- Ed Wandtke, CVA

W&A was founded on the principle that valuation should be a discipline, not a shortcut. Every engagement we take reflects that standard. We do not provide back-of-the-napkin estimates or accommodate predetermined value conclusions. We provide objective reality.

Rigorous Standards

Our work is governed by the highest professional standards in the appraisal industry. Every report we issue is compliant with:

  • NACVA: Business Valuation Standards of National Association of Certified Valuators and Analysts i
  • AICPA: Statement on Standards for Valuation Services (VS Section 100) i
  • IRS: Requirements for a "Qualified Appraisal"

Independence & Objectivity

We are an independent valuation firm. We do not sell businesses, we do not audit financial statements, and we do not manage wealth. That pure-play focus eliminates conflicts of interest and ensures our conclusions are completely objective. Our allegiance is to the methodology and the data.

Our Valuation Process

Every engagement follows the same disciplined sequence, from initial scoping through final report delivery.

Business valuation process: seven steps from defining purpose and scope through presenting a court-defensible report, grouped into Discovery, Analysis, and Conclusion phases.

A typical engagement moves through these seven stages in approximately 5 to 8 weeks, though the actual timeline depends on the availability, depth, and quality of the financial and operational information provided. We coordinate and communicate with you throughout the process, and more complex engagements may extend beyond this range. Contact us to share the specifics of your business valuation request.
